A Homage To My Comrade, Ray, The Significance Of Fellowship, And "The Law Of Reciprocity"
This tribute is offered after going to a Memorial Service for a friend of mine who passed away last week. His name was Ray.
I actually met Ray face to face a couple of years ago, but really, I've known him almost all of my life. We come from totally different backgrounds. We aren't the same color, education, faith or race (other than the human race). Thus far, not much to be able to base a tribute on.
What we did share, nevertheless, was a condition that presently has no remedy. It is difficult to describe to people not affected but is simple to share with people who are. Ray and I did a lot of sharing over these past two years. This tribute is offered as a direct result of that sharing because it altered my attitude toward my illness as well as my outlook towards the future into a favorable one. For that I have to personally pay tribute to my friend.
Regardless of what our challenges might be, finding like minded individuals who possess a common interest is extremely empowering. The emotional boost that comes through having open, honest and encouraging associations is what makes life worth living. The "Law of Reciprocity" will work for anyone who is wanting to take advantage of it by not taking advantage of other people.

Ray's willingness to remain brutally honest regarding himself with others made it easier for them to feel comfortable in doing the same. It was not only the honesty however, it was his manner. Once he was finished you would be left taking inventory of your self, but invariably with a grin.
I was not the sole person that Ray assisted to cope with their condition. There are many others who join with me for this tribute. It's a shame Ray will no longer be able to carry on his sharing with other people in person. Even so, his efforts along with his example will continue to spread Viraly (word of mouth) by way of me and other people he helped.
Lastly, I am paying tribute to Ray for the reason that I believe that one of the purposes we're on this earth for should be to leave it a better place than when we found it. To Ray I say, "Mission Accomplished". You are missed but you aren't forgotten.
